A collection of lies and misinformation told by the Prime Minister and BJP MPs in Parliament!

The I.N.D.I.A alliance parties brought a motion of no confidence against the ruling government in Parliament to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi speak about the Manipur riots.

On August 10, Prime Minister Modi attended the debate on the No-Confidence Motion in Parliament and addressed it for more than 2 hours. But MPs from opposition parties walked out saying that he did not talk about Manipur for more than 1 hour in his speech. After that, PM Modi started talking about Manipur.

Meanwhile, in the debate on the no-confidence motion in the Parliament, various false news and misinformation started coming out in the speech of the ruling party. In this article, you will find a collection of lies and misinformation said by PM Modi and BJP ministers.

1. DMK Minister says North India is India: Smriti Irani

Union Minister Smriti Irani said in the parliamentary debate on August 9 that the DMK minister in the Congress alliance has said that India is only North India. Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai also posted this video on Twitter.

Prime Minister Modi also mentioned this while speaking in the Parliament on August 10 as a DMK minister is talking about North India as India.

However, the video that went viral in which Minister AV Velu spoke of divisiveness was edited. “The name India once did not have a big impact on our town. We were as if India was a town in the north. But what is the situation today?” He said that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has the responsibility to save India today by changing the country that was heard somewhere in the distance.

A part of the video where the DMK minister spoke has been edited and circulated. BJP Minister Smriti Irani spoke about this information and the Prime Minister also spoke about it.

2. We stopped the war in Ukraine for 3 days: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah speaking during the debate on the no-confidence motion in Parliament on August 9, said, “We even spoke to the government of Ukraine and Yemen during the crisis and Corona. We stopped the war for 3 days and operated the planes. Indians were rescued during the war in Ukraine. Apart from that, people were brought from Yemen even before the corona lockdown.

This Ukraine ceasefire lie has been spread by the BJP since 2022. Tamil Nadu BJP leader Annamalai said that Prime Minister Modi stopped the war in Ukraine for 6 hours. Similarly, J.P. Nadda also said that Prime Minister Modi stopped the war by talking to both Putin and Zelensky which was posted on BJP’s official Twitter account.

3. We opened IIMC in Mizoram for the first time – Modi

On August 10, Prime Minister Modi spoke about the achievements of the BJP government in Parliament and said, “For the first time, an institution like the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has been opened in Mizoram.”

Searching for IIMC in Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram state, the IIMC Mizoram website mentions that the IIMC campus of the North East region started functioning on 8 August 2011 from a temporary building in Mizoram University. The United Progressive Alliance government led by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was in power at that time.

Also, in a press release issued by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in 2022, “IIMC North East Regional Campus started functioning in 2011 from a temporary building developed by Mizoram University. Construction work for the complex began in 2015 and was completed in 2019. The total cost is 25 crores. The permanent campus of IIMC on 8 acres of land provided by the University of Mizoram has academic buildings, hostels etc.

The permanent building for the IIMC of North Eastern Region was inaugurated by the President in 2022, starting in 2015 and ending in 2019 under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime. However, it is learned that the temporary building and classes for IIMC started in 2011 during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime.

4. Flying kiss to Smriti Irani: BJP MPs

On August 9, BJP MPs accused Congress MP Rahul Gandhi as he gave a flying kiss to Union Minister Smriti Irani during the parliamentary debate and they even filed a petition to the Speaker.

But Minister Smriti Irani was not sitting directly where Rahul Gandhi was gesturing. Rahul Gandhi can be seen in the video looking in a different direction to his left. From this, we published an article explaining that Rahul Gandhi did not make any such gesture to Smriti Irani.
