Karnataka government files FIR against Aaj Tak’s Sudhir Chaudhary for spreading fake news.

Sudhir Chaudhary claimed that other than Hindus, all other religions and here minorities can avail of the vehicle subsidy scheme in Karnataka.
The Karnataka Bengaluru Police has registered a case against Aaj Tak journalist Sudhir Chaudhary for spreading misinformation in his TV show about Karnataka’s commercial vehicle subsidy scheme.
The FIR lodged by Seshadripuram police on 12 September appealed to IPC sections 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, language, race, place of birth, etc.)
The show hosted by Chaudhary which aired on September 11, had focused on an advertisement poster by the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation, which assured a subsidy of 50 percent or up to Rs 3 lakh to people from religious minorities with a household income of less than Rs 4.5 lakh to purchase commercial vehicles.
Moreover, Chaudhary went on to claim that “What the Karnataka government is saying is even if you are extremely poor and have no money, if you are Hindu then no subsidy is given for buying a vehicle. But those who are Muslim, Sikh, Buddhists will get a subsidy for buying vehicles.” Religious minorities include Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs and Parsis.
BJP Ministers tweet about this KMDC poster:
Earlier, this same poster was also shared by BJP MP @TejasviSurya and Union Minister @Rajeev_GoI.
According to the tweet shared by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, he accused the Congress of going to any extent to devise a ‘religion targeted scheme’ and ‘appease’ minority voters.
Likewise, BJP Union Minister also tweeted in fact he was the one who started this first followed by rest with a same poster criticising the Karnataka Congress Government regarding the commercial vehicle subsidy scheme. In the tweet he mentioned, “another example of shameless, lazy, appeasement politics of bribing certain communities”.
YouTurn has already published the fact-check regarding the above claims under the title, “Karnataka minority scheme which was also available during the BJP rule is shared with misleading claims.”

“The anchor of Aaj Tak is deliberately spreading misinformation on Government schemes which was first started by BJP MPs and is being amplified by sections of the media,” Kharge said. “This is deliberate and malicious, the government will be taking necessary legal action.”
For the above tweet, Chaudhary questioned why a case under non-bailable sections was filed against him for “asking a question”. He asserted, “I too am ready for this battle. We will meet in court now” on 13 September through his X account.
