Old video of a woman being groped in Bihar is shared by RW.
The viral video of two women paraded naked in Manipur stirred the country that the BJP-led state government and the central government are being questioned for poor governance as it took more than two months to take action against the complaint relating to the incident.
This led the BJP leaders and supporters to share other videos of women being stripped, paraded naked and molested to prove that it is not only happening in BJP ruling states but also other states and to falsely claim that action has not been taken on those incidents. This is nothing to be felt proud of but shows the horrible state of women in the country.
However, most of the videos pointed out by the right-wing appear to be old. One such video claimed to be from Bihar is shared recently by right-wing supporters to question the Bihar government on women’s safety. And this video is being amplified by other supporters and social media users. Some of the posts can be seen here, here and here. One such post has gained more than 73k views, retweets and likes in thousands.
We found that the video is from an incident that happened in 2021 in Laxman Chowk under the Dariyapur police station in Bihar. The incident is said to have happened on 27, September 2021 and the video emerged on social media on 5, October 2021. Police arrested four people a day after the video went viral and two were absconding, reported Bhaskar.
The YouTube channel Live Hindustan uploaded a video on 6, October 2021. This video is found to have matching visuals from the viral video. It is reported that four out of six people relating to the incident were arrested.
Arun Kumar Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal Spokesperson, Bihar tweeted the video with the caption translated as “This is an inhuman incident of Chhapra district of Bihar. Nitish-BJP alliance has been in power in Bihar for 15 years. These are not new incidents in the Nitish government, fearless criminals carry out such incidents everyday in the state. Nitish government has completely failed to protect women.. Shame on you government”, on 6, October 2021.

Nithish Kumar, Janata Dal party is serving as Chief Minister of Bihar since 2015. Janata Dal party and BJP-led NDA formed a coalition in 2017 and it retained till 2022. Currently, the Janata Dal party is in alliance with Rashtriya Janata Dal which has formed a coalition with Congress-led INDIA.
