Governor of Tamil Nadu approves emergency ban on online gambling!

The number of people who have become addicted to online gambling, including rummy, have lost millions of rupees and become debt-ridden, and have committed suicide has been shocking us in our daily life.

The Tamil Nadu government has enacted an emergency law banning online rummy games in Tamil Nadu amid calls for a ban on online gambling. Now this emergency law has been approved by the Governor of Tamil Nadu Banwarilal Purohit.

Amendments have been made to the Emergency Act, the Tamil Nadu Gambling Act of 1930, the Chennai City Guard Act of 1888 and the Tamil Nadu District Police Act of 1859. According to the emergency law,

  • Anyone who puts money into the game and the computers and related equipment involved will be banned.
  • Violators face a fine of up to Rs 5,000 and up to six months in prison.
  • Owners of an online gymnasium will be fined Rs 10,000 and jailed for 2 years.

Gambling games including online rummy are banned in every state in India one by one. Only if online gambling is banned across India and the processors used for it are completely eliminated and will there be no suicides in gambling.
