DMK or NTK | Who was the first party to form an environmental team?

Karthikeya Sivasenapathy, Managing Trustee of the Kangeyam Veterinary Research Trust and Secretary of the Kangeyam Cattle Research Foundation, recently joined the DMK and a new sub-organization called the “Environment Team” was formed at the DMK and appointed its Secretary of State.
In this context, Karthikeyan Sivasenapathy posted on his Facebook page, “For the first time in India, the leader of the DMK has formed a separate team for the environment and has made it very clear to all of us the importance of the environment.”
This was immediately met with protests from NTK party supporters. Memes and posts have gone viral, accusing the DMK members openly claiming that the DMK, which has just begun, has created the first environmental team.
The “Environment Team” has been newly integrated with 18 subsidiaries in the DMK. However, before the DMK, we, the NTK Party, were carrying out various activities, including planting palm seeds and planting trees, through environmental “awareness” and raising environmental awareness and struggles. They are primarily implementing the planting of millions of palm seeds.
However, even before we started the NTK Party, the “Pasumai Thaayagam” was formed in 1995 as the environmental wing of the PMK Party. Pasumai Thaayagam is a voluntary and non-governmental organization involved in ecological and social activities in India. It is headed by Dr. Anbumani Ramadas’ wife Sowmia.
We are well aware of the news that Anbumani Ramadas protested against the inclusion of scenes like smoking in the movie Actor Vijay. In the year 2003, we got the photo of Anbumani Ramadas raising awareness on behalf of Pasumai Thaayagam with the slogan “No Smoking Cinema” as the slogan of the World No Tobacco Day. In 2002, it was reported that the Green Homeland Organization was planning to build 1,000 ponds, lakes and canals in Tamil Nadu.
Like PMK’s “Pasumai Thaayagam” organization, in 2016 DMDK leader Vijayakanth started the “Pasumai Tamilagam Thittam”. According to the Vikatan article, 1,000 saplings per assembly constituency will be planted in 234 constituencies.
Although PMK’s “Pasumai Thaayagam” is a voluntary organization that was launched in 1995, it is part of the party’s environmental wing. The Naam Tamilar Katchi also has “sutrusoolal pasarai”. It is incorrect to say that the environmental team currently being formed on behalf of the DMK was the first of its kind in India.
