Admission to join 25% of places in private schools under the RTE Act extended up to July 5!

The Directorate of Matriculation Schools has announced the application date and other details for students who wish to join the 25% reservation provided by the government under the Right to Education Act in private schools.

Section 12 (1) (c) of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education for Children Act, 2009 stipulates that 25% reservation should be provided in all private schools except in the minority educational institutions (non-minority educational institutions) for enrollment of persons below the poverty line.

Thus Kindergarten (LKG) or first standard students can study up to 8th standard free of charge. Those who are economically backward (with an annual income of less than Rs 2 lakh) can apply. In addition, special and physically challenged children, children of sanitation workers and children with HIV will be given priority under this Act.

Admission work, which begins in April each year, is currently delayed due to a corona infection.

According to a report released by the Directorate of Matriculation Schools, the admission process for the 2021-22 academic year has been advised by private schools to follow the safety guidelines and receive applications online due to corona. Furthermore, the Directorate, which has released the timetable for this admission, has informed that students can register for admission applications online from July 5 to August 3.
