Admission to join 25% of places in private schools under the RTE Act extended up to July 5!

The Directorate of Matriculation Schools has announced the application date and other details for students who wish to join the 25% reservation provided by the government under the Right to Education Act in private schools.

Section 12 (1) (c) of the Right to Free and Compulsory Education for Children Act, 2009 stipulates that 25% reservation should be provided in all private schools except in the minority educational institutions (non-minority educational institutions) for enrollment of persons below the poverty line.

Thus Kindergarten (LKG) or first standard students can study up to 8th standard free of charge. Those who are economically backward (with an annual income of less than Rs 2 lakh) can apply. In addition, special and physically challenged children, children of sanitation workers and children with HIV will be given priority under this Act.

Admission work, which begins in April each year, is currently delayed due to a corona infection.

According to a report released by the Directorate of Matriculation Schools, the admission process for the 2021-22 academic year has been advised by private schools to follow the safety guidelines and receive applications online due to corona. Furthermore, the Directorate, which has released the timetable for this admission, has informed that students can register for admission applications online from July 5 to August 3.

All private schools are required to record in a separate register the number of seats to be filled in their schools and submit it to the nominated district committee.

Details of how many students will be enrolled under the 25% reservation will be uploaded on the school notice board and on the website of the school education department from 02/07/21.

Students can apply for admission online from 05/07/21 to 03/08/21.

From 5 pm on 09/08, the names of those who have been admitted to the school and the names of those who have been rejected (with reason) will be announced on the school notice board and on the website of the school education department.

From 10/08, if the number of eligible applicants above more than 25%, they will be selected by random method. The names of the selected applicants, the names of which are on the waiting list for 5 places per section will be immediately posted on the school notice board and on the website of the school education department along with the application numbers.

Furthermore, it has been reported that parents at the district and block level education offices can apply online by following the social distance and safety protocols.

Essential documents for application:

1. Photo of the applicant (150 px X 175 px)

2. Birth certificate

3. Aadhar / Ration card of the parent or guardian.

4. Income certificate of economically weaker sections.

5. Caste certificate of the section denied the opportunity.

6. Certificate of Priority Eligibility of those in the category.
