Victims of the Thoothukudi firing got qualification based jobs from normal jobs.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has issued an appointment order in Madurai to provide government employment to one of the families of those killed and seriously injured in the firing that took place during the anti-Sterlite protests in Thoothukudi on May 22, 2018.

However, in 2018, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanichamy has issued an appointment order to one of the families of those killed and seriously injured in the shooting. Then again they are posting on social websites as to why MK Stalin is giving the work order to them again.

In a news release on September 27, 2018, Dhinakaran said, “Thirteen people were killed in a shooting during a protest against the Sterlite plant. Their families have been given financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh each. Also, it was announced that one of the families of the victims and injured would be offered a government job.

In this situation, the district administration inquired about the educational qualifications and submitted a report. Accordingly, a total of 19 persons have been selected for government employment out of the 10 heirs of the victims of the shooting, 5 persons who were seriously injured and 4 persons who were seriously injured, ”said Edappadi Palanichamy.

On November 24, 2020, on the Twitter page of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, it was published, “I have graciously given the appointment order for the post of Village Revenue Assistant to the Thoothukudi District Revenue Unit in the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management on the basis of mercy to Mr Anthony Selvaraj and his son Selvan A. Ajay Jones who died during the anti-Sterlite copper smelting protest.”.

A government appointment order has been issued to one of the families of those killed and injured in the Tuticorin shootings between September 2018 and November 2020.

In the Kalaignar seithigal dated 27 August 2020, “Relatives of the victims of the Tuticorin shootings and one of them seriously injured met with Judge Aruna Jagadeesan at a one-person commission on the need to reconsider the government job to be given to him and to reconsider the job given to him and offer him a job as a junior assistant in line with his education. The petition was filed. ”

“We feel that being employed as the lowest-paid employees in the government, as the lowest-paid employees in the public service, without being offered a job on the basis of educational qualification, is not on the basis of mercy, it is something given for the wipe of the eye.

There has been discrimination in the provision of government employment only to our family relations. Therefore, in September 2020, the Hindu Tamil Direction reported that the relatives of Krishnamurthy and Prabhu, the coordinators of the anti-Sterlite Thoothukudi District People’s Coalition, had petitioned the District Collector to provide a junior assistant post for the families of those killed and injured in the shooting.

One of the families of those killed and seriously injured in the shooting during the Edappadi Palanichamy regime has been given the job of village assistant. However, there are reports that they have not been offered a job according to their educational qualifications and have applied for a job as a junior assistant.

According to a Thandhi report, the present Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, has issued appointment orders for the post of Bachelor Assistant to each of the families of the 17 victims of the Tuticorin shootings.

8 out of 17 have been given as Junior Revenue Inspector, 4 as Junior Assistant, 3 as Rehabilitation Officer Level-2, 1 as Cashier and 1 as Eep Driving Order.

(List of current posts and office details of 17 persons).

It is true that the then Chief Minister Edappadi Palanichamy issued a government appointment order to one of the families of those killed and injured in the Tuticorin shootings in 2018. However, the petition was filed on behalf of the victims as it was not based on the educational qualifications given then. It is clear that in May 2021, at their request, Chief Minister MK Stalin issued an appointment order for a job suitable for education.
