What is the truth?

When searching with relevant keywords, we found articles from NDTV, The Print, Economic Times and other media houses reporting on the speech of Devendra Fadnavis. The news articles mention that he said, “The heads or prime ministers of 120 countries passed a resolution asking PM Modi to lead them. They asked him to become their voice on the global front. This is the recognition our country’s leader has received” when he was speaking at a BJP rally in Thane district. However, the article mentioned that Fadnavis did not provide details about the resolution or the nations involved.

The articles that we referred to, further mentioned that incidentally, India hosted a two-day summit “Voice of the Global South Summit” in January 2023 in which 120 developing counties participated. The summit was inaugurated by PM Modi on 12, January 2023.

A total of 125 nations participated, including 29 countries from Latin America and the Caribbean, 47 countries from Africa, 7 countries from Europe, 31 countries from Asia, and 11 countries from Oceania. In the summit, Narendra Modi assured that India’s presidency of G-20 would be used to amplify the voice of the Global South. The Hindu reported that the Government’s summit for developing nations, called the “Voice of the Global South Summit”, as its first big leadership-level G20 event, is an extremely important signal. The article also reported on the participation of 125 countries in the summit.

However, none of the articles that we referred to mentions that the leaders or Prime Ministers of 120 or 125 countries that participated in the Voice of Global South Summit passed a resolution asking Modi to lead them and to be their voice on the global front.
