Explanation

Communal clashes broke out in Haryana during a religious procession organised by Vishva Hindu Parishad. Meanwhile, multiple videos are being circulated with the claim that they are from Nuh and Gurugram. A video showing a person pelting stones is shared with the caption “A video coming out from the #Gurugram voilance about how to start a voilance. These morons should be punished very hard as they are playing with the emotions of the peoples and leads to a clash between two factions.”

What is the truth?

When reverse searching the keyframes of the viral video we found that the video is old and unrelated to the ongoing Nuh violence. The video dates back to 2022 and was recorded in Telangana.

The video showing a person from a political gathering pelting stones is found tweeted on 24, August 2022 with the caption in Telugu roughly translated as “They are the ones who throw stones. They are the ones who provoke people! This is the politics of BJP.”

Krishank, TSMDC Chairman from Telangana also tweeted the video on 24, August 2022 mentioning that BJP workers are pelting stones in the direction of BJP State President BS Kumar during a padayatra.

When watching the videos closely we found a signage board written in Telugu and English. It mentioned 58km to Suryapeta and 31km to Jangaon, cities in Telangana. We found that both cities are around 90 km apart from each other in Telangana. The video is likely to be recorded somewhere between these two cities in Telangana.

With further search, we found that the padayatra was held in August 2022 in Telangana where TRS and BJP cadres clashed. The Economic Times reported that TRS leaders pelted stones during the padayatra that was held in Devaruppula village of Jangaon district.

Conclusion

It is found that an old video unrelated to Haryana violence is shared to falsely claim that it is from Gurugram.
