A person named Mohammad Idris, presenting himself as a Hindu Brahmin and eating nonveg with Shikha and Tilak on his forehead, has been arrested along with his friend Zafar for hurting religious sentiments.

Explanation

A 4 minute, 18 second viral video is purporting on X (previously Twitter), and as we can see in the video, a brahmin man with shikha, aka long tufts of hair, and tilak on his forehead in the proper temple priest attire is eating non-vegetarian meals. The person who is recording the video starts saying, “Look at the reality of the priest and look at how big shikha he has, and he is eating meat.”

He added that this person is a fake priest who is trying to misguide the huge crowd that believes him. The person who is taking the video starts asking questions to the priest, who is eating meat, at exactly that time. The priest starts ignoring the questions and starts running from the shop. Later the video taking person give warning to the shopkeeper to not give the meat to priest. The shopkeeper is heard replying that whoever pay for having will be getting it because it is his business. 

The video was shared to claim that a person who is in the attire of Hindu brahmin and eating non-veg, having shikha, aka long tufts of hair, and also having tilak on the forehead is a Muslim, and his name is Mohammed Idris. The post further stated that he got arrested along with his friend Zafar for hurting religious sentiments.

What’s the truth? 

We ran a reverse search using the keyframes of the viral video, and we found that the same video was uploaded to ‘Sujeet Pandey’s Facebook account’ on April 30, 2024. 

Additionally, we checked his profile, and we found that this account holder posted multiple scripted videos, and we also found what he mentioned in his bio as an actor. This account posted many scripted videos, such as kidnapping, Holi celebrations, domestic violence, and many religious hatred videos as well. 

According to all this, we deduce that the Muslim man in Hindu priest attire eating meat is a staged video that has been shared in a false narrative to instigate religious hatred.
