Recently, The viral image of three people standing behind an old woman encased in resin and then used as a coffee table is being circulated on social media platforms as a real photo. Some of the posts with such a claim can be seen here and here.

A screenshot of the tweet with such a claim was also shared on funnyjunk.com, 9gag.com, and Reddit websites too.
What’s the truth?
When we performed the Google reverse image search, we found that the viral photo is not real but an AI-generated one.
Furthermore, we can take a closer look at the image, The old woman’s fingers did not look normal in her left hand and there are a total of six fingers in her right hand. It’s generally understood that the image was created using AI tools.
Further scans of the image with Illuminarty.ai, found an AI probability of 66.5 percent, computer-generated image.
We further searched and the results led us to the photo which was shared on Twitter by Kelly Port dated Jun 18, 2023. It has a similar image with the encased dog, captioning it with, “Encasing loved ones in acrylic resin, a great Father’s Day gift!“. it is concluded that the image is likely to have been generated by AI with the same background.

This is not the first time this is happening. There were several instances where images created with Artificial Intelligence (AI) went viral thinking the images to be true. YouTurn fact-checked some of them and published articles on the same.
