Explanation

Donyi Airport in Itanagar in the Northeast state of Arunachal Pradesh has been completed and it is expected to be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This new greenfield airport used bamboo and cane extensively in its designs. A video is shared on social media with a claim that it shows the interiors of the Donyi Airport in Arunachal Pradesh. Some of these posts can be seen here, here, here and here.

What’s the truth?

Donyi Polo Airport is a newly constructed greenfield airport and its entrance is constructed with a bamboo structure of the Great Hornbill, the state bird of Arunchal Pradesh where the airport is located. The construction of the Airport is complete, and it is expected to be unveiled in November 2022.

However, the visuals circulated in social media claiming to be from this airport are not true. They are taken in Terminal 2 of the Bengaluru Airport which is inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi today (11 Nov 2022).

Photos and Visuals from these terminals are published by various news outlets.

A video was uploaded on YouTube in a channel named “Hamari Mitti Society” on 19 Oct 2022.

The viral video is shared by many in social media correctly attributing it to the Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda Airport in Bengaluru.

Conclusion

In our search, we find that the viral claim is false as the video is actually taken from Bengaluru not in Donyi Polo Airport in Arunachal Pradesh.
