Explanation
Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Delhi early morning today (24, December 2022). After the march through Delhi, the yatra will halt for around 9 days and the journey will resume on January 3, 2023, covering Uttar Pradesh, the second phase of Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. It is said that around 60 containers that house the Yatris can be repaired and prepared for the winter during the break as they will be passing regions with four to five-degree Celsius temperatures.
In this context, Rishi Bagree who seems to peddle misinformation often tweeted that Bharat Jodo Yatra is taking a break for Christmas and did not take a break for Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, Parliament session, or for Covid surge.
Rohit Chahal, National General Secretary of BJP Youth Wing tweeted an image quoting that the yatra did not stop for Diwali, Dussehra, the winter session of the Parliament, and Guru Nanak Jayanti but is halting for 9 days for Christmas. The archived link can be seen here.
What is the truth?
When searching for the breaks taken by Bharat Jodo Yatra so far, the Times of India article dated 20, October 2022 mentions the 3-day break for Diwali and other festivals from 24 to 26 October 2022. Diwali was on 24, October 2022.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress MP tweeted on 3, October 2022 that the yatra will resume on 6, October 2022 after a 2-day Dussehra break. Dussehra was on 5, October 2022.
