Explanation
A few pictures are viral on social media and are getting trolled that Tamil Nadu BJP is posting old pictures from Kerala as their food relief distribution in Chennai.
What is the Truth?
BJP Tamilnadu has posted a few pictures of preparing food and distributing it, on its social media handles including Facebook and Twitter on November 8 describing it as “Distributed food to people affected in Central Chennai East Mandal”.
It is viral on social media that the people in the pictures seem to be from Kerala and the caption in the pictures ‘OPPO A9 2020’ denotes that the pictures were taken in 2020 in Kerala.
However, a few commented that the caption denoted the model of the phone used to take pictures. And it indeed denotes the phone model. When the viral pictures are reverse searched, no old pictures or posts were found.
When we reached C.T.Nirmal Kumar, TN BJP Digital and IT Wing, “Those pictures were taken yesterday (November 8) in Chennai. Rumours are being spread because of the phone model. The vehicle that carried food holds the poster with a photo of TN BJP President Annamalai. I have shared the pictures on my Twitter handle”, he said.
His tweet says, “BJP members during flood relief works yesterday near Hindi Prachar Sabha. But DMK members are sharing misinformation that the pictures were taken in Kerala”, along with the pictures.
The poster with the photo of TN BJP President Annamalai, tied to the vehicle says, “Thousand Lights, Chennai East Mandal”.
Conclusion
The posts claiming that BJP members have shared the old pictures of Kerala relief is fake. The pictures were taken when the BJP members provided food relief packs in Thousand Lights, Chennai East Mandal.
