Description

A 36-second video has gone viral on social media claiming that the Natarajar statue at the Chidambaram temple was miraculously rained on. The Tamil media has also reported that the video of the temple is going viral on social media.

Thousands of people have been sharing the video on social media claiming that the rain on the statue was a miracle. Followers are constantly being asked us to find the truth.

FactCheck:
With such a video viral that it only rained on the Natarajar statue at the Chidambaram temple, a Youturn follower sent us a video saying that he went there in person and took the video. In the video, it was seen raining in front of and around the hall where the statue is located.

It seemed to us that the rain may have been known alone due to the angle of the lamp set to the Natarajar statue. The video we got also shows the rain falling on the statue alone. Like the video sent to us by the follower, some people took a video of the rain around the hall where the statue is located and started sharing it on social media.

However, on the Chidambaram memes Facebook page where the viral video was posted, the memes have posted that the video taken entirely from the hall area is a fake.
The tower of the temple is visible behind the hall in the viral video, but in this video it is mentioned that it is not. It’s not a fake video or any other part, as they say. If you watch the video you can understand that the same part is taken from a different angle.
Also, it is said that it did not rain on another statue, which is located a short distance away, in the video that goes viral that it is raining only on the statue. However, in the 36-second video, you can watch the video carefully as the light of the rain falls on the nearby statue at the 14th second.

In the viral video the angle of the lamp set on the statue in the middle and the direction of the rain are showing the rain alone. Similarly, the videographers are just zooming in on the statue. Not showing around the area.

Explanation

In our search, the video that spread like wildfire that it is raining only on the Natarajar statue in the hall of the Chidambaram Natarajar temple was false. It can be understood that it is raining around the area and it looks like it is raining alone from the angle of the existing lamp of the statue.
