Explanation

The world’s highest railway track is under construction on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link on the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir, India. On 21, March 2023 a small train was said to be run on the track as a test run and was successful.

Meanwhile, a video of a train running on a bridge in a valley is shared widely to claim that the video is of the successful small train test run conducted recently on the world’s highest railway track under construction on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link on Chenab river in Reasi District(Jammu) of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory. Some of the posts with such a claim can be seen here and here. The video is also shared with the same claim by RP Singh, BJP Spokesperson.

What is the truth?

When reverse searching the keyframes of the viral video we found that the video is not from the recent train test run but old. Moreover, the location of the bridge in the video is identified as China’s Beipan river Shuibai bridge.

The viral video is found uploaded on 27, June 2022 on Andan’s Facebook page with the caption ‘Beipan River Bridge, Guizhou’.

The image of this bridge is found in a video uploaded by the Aaj Tak Youtube channel with the title ‘World’s Tallest Railway Bridge Built By Indian Railway on Chenab River In Kashmir’ in 2017.

But this particular image of the bridge is mentioned as the ‘Shuibai Railway Bridge’ in China of 275 meters high and is quoted as the world’s highest railway bridge.

A video posted by the verified Facebook account of Dr. Jitendra Singh in August 2020 about the construction of India’s Chenab bridge also carries the image of the Beipan river Shuibai bridge mentioning that this China’s bridge is the current highest bridge standing at 275m. The same video is also found posted on Doordarshan National (DD1) Facebook page in January 2020

Conclusion

It is found that the video claimed to be from India’s Chenab river bridge is false. The video is old and is originally from China’s Beipan river Shuibai bridge.
