PM Modi greeted VP Dhankhar with ‘Namaste’ but a clipped video is shared to claim otherwise.

On a diff note.. Will Hon’ble Vice- President of the country & Rajya Sabha Speaker Shri. Dhankar be ashamed of acts of such sycophancy where his ‘Namaskar’ is not even reciprocated by the Honble PM @narendramodi Ji? Will Hon’ble Pm care to advise Honble VP Sir to at least not display such ‘complete submission’ at least in Public?? I am sceptical !!

The statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar was installed on the Supreme Court premises following an initiative by Chief Justice of India D.Y Chandrachud and inaugurated by President of India Droupadi Murmu on 26, November 2023.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Information Technology and Electronics Minister Babul Supriyo shared a viral video of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar claiming that Dhankhar should be ashamed of acts of such sycophancy where his ‘Namaskar’ is not even responded to by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji.

He added that at least the Hon’ble Prime Minister cares to advise the Vice President to not display such complete submission in the public.

What is the truth?

We ran a reverse image search using the keyframes of the viral video and found the original video posted on Sansad TV YouTube Channel on 6, December 2023. President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla paid floral tribute to Dr. B R Ambedkar on his death anniversary.

In this full video, at the timestamp of 0:52 seconds, we can see Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and other parliamentarians waiting during the arrival of Vice President. As soon as he got out of the car, both Vice President and PM Modi were seen greeting each other with a ‘Namaste’.

The Vice President is seen continuing the gesture for the next few seconds and this portion of the video is clipped and is being shared to falsely claim that Modi did not reciprocate the Vice President’s greeting.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar hits back in Rajya Sabha after many parliamentarians shared a video of him bowing and greeting with folded hands. VP Dhankhar said in Rajya Sabha that it is his habit to bow and greet. This was reported by many media outlets such as India Today, NDTV, Deccan Herald, The Indian Express, TOI and The Hindu.

It is found that both Jagdeep Dhankhar and Modi greeted each other, but a specific portion of the video that shows Dhankhar extending his greeting when Modi is not, is clipped and shared with false claims
