Meanwhile, from the CSK vs GT match, a 10-second video purports to claim that Chennai Super Kings star bowler Matheesha Pathirana bends down and touched M. S. Dhoni’s feet just before bowling, and this video of Pathirana was widely shared and appreciated by cricket fans.

The same claim was widely shared by social media users and can be seen here, here, and here.

What’s the Truth?

We ran a keyword search and found a few videos from different angles from the same scenario posted by X users.

Stan MSD X user posted the same scenario video from a different angle. Pathirana was just adjusting the run-up marker, and this account posted this video with the sarcastic caption, “To people who thought Pathirana was taking blessings from Thala—with laughing emojis.”

Another X user, namely Mumbai Indian TN, shared the same video with the caption “The Actual Video..Which Was Fakely Spreaded as Pathirana Touching Dhoni’s Feet and Taking Blessing.”.

In both videos, which have been shared by X users, it can be clearly seen that CSK bowler Matheesha Pathirana was just picking up his bowling run-up marker and not touching M.S.Dhoni’s feet, who was standing near the bowling run-up marker.

Bowling run-up markers are discs used by bowlers in cricket to mark their run-up during practice or matches. They help bowlers maintain a consistent approach to the crease, which is important for accuracy and pace.

Many credible media outlets, such as NDTV, One Cricket, Nav Bharat Times, and The Free Press Journal also reported the same. Matheesha Pathirana had just picked up and adjusted his run-up marker.

Conclusion

The claim that Matheesha Pathirana touched MS Dhoni’s feet is untrue, Pathirana was just picking and adjusting his run up marker.
