What’s the truth?

Using the phrase “Mathura girl dead body on Yamuna expressway,” we ran a keyword search and came up with multiple news articles about it from 21, November 2022.

As per an article published in India Today, “Ayushi went out a few days ago without informing her father, Nitesh Yadav. Her father got angry and shot her when she got home. He then wrapped her body in plastic, stuffed it in a trolley bag, and dumped the bag on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The woman’s body has been identified as Ayushi Yadav. She was a resident of Delhi’s Badarpur.”

When we intensified our search we discovered another article from NDTV. According to the report, Uttar Pradesh police said “A 22-year-old Delhi woman, whose body was found inside a suitcase near the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura last week, was killed by her father. Aayushi Chaudhary’s parents have been arrested for her murder, according to the Mathura Superintendent of Police.”

The report further added that “Aayushi had married a man named Chhatrapal, from another caste, without telling her family. Her parents were angry at what they believed was her defiance and ‘stubborn’ attitude. After shooting Aayushi with his licensed gun, Nitesh Yadav allegedly packed her body in a suitcase and dumped it in Mathura.”

Additionally, we came across a video statement that the Mathura police put up on their official X account, in which SP Singh is seen interacting with reporters. Singh describes the case in the video and claims that the woman’s parents killed her because she wed outside of her caste.

The Mathura police also shared a post about the girl’s murder on X, the platform that was formerly known as Twitter. The post included pictures of the gun, the car that the parents used to transport the body, and the arrested parents.

Given that the girl married someone outside of her caste, all of the information above indicates that her parents killed her. Furthermore, contrary to what social media has said, there is no communal connection to this murder case.
