The 1.42-minute video has gone viral on social media, claiming that farmers in Delhi paid Rs 350 for the farmers’ protest against the agrarian law and that the fight was over because wages were not paid properly.

We decided to investigate the authenticity of the video that was spread that people were brought in to pay for the protest.

Fact Check:

The 1.42-minute viral video shows the speaker wearing a turban and photos of Delhi Aam Aadmi Party leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, and the party’s logo. Also, the location shown in the video does not look like the Delhi protest.

Based on this, it appeared that the video must have taken place during an Aam Aadmi Party rally or campaign. While searching for keywords related to it, I came across a news item in the Times of India on March 26, 2018 titled “Laborers allege they were denied Rs 350 promised to them attending Kejriwal’s rally”.

Workers in Hisar, Haryana, have been called in to pay Rs 350 for an Aam Aadmi Party rally. However, those present at the rally accused the party of failing to provide money and food.

Like the T-shirt worn by those in the viral video, it can be seen in the news that 350 rupees were not paid. Also, the speaker in the viral video is featured in the video released in the news in 2018.

In our search, we came to know that a video of workers talking about being told not to pay the 350 rupees that Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal had promised to pay for a rally in Haryana in 2018 is being spread as it happened in the Delhi farmers protest.
