Explanation
A video of Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh welcoming the leaders is widely circulated with a claim that he welcomes them with a gold chain. It is mentioned in the posts sarcastically that gold has become cheaper than potatoes in Chhattisgarh and that the CM welcomes everyone with a gold chain instead of welcoming with flowers and tilak traditionally. What is the truth?
When searching for the video it is found uploaded on the Congress page with the caption “On reaching the 85th General Convention, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Shri @bhupeshbaghel welcomed various office bearers. #INCPlenaryInCG”, and is shared by Bhupesh Baghel on 24, February 2023.

Bhupesh Baghel’s other tweet dated 27, February 2023 is found carrying a video with the caption “Lie, lie again and again, lie as loud as you can.. Those who follow this formula are insulting this precious gift, as well as the art of the sons/daughters of nature and the culture of Chhattisgarh. After all, why does the BJP hate the people of Chhattisgarh and its culture so much?”

The video is attached to explain how the garland is made with grass and bamboo. A woman is also seen making one in the video. Itwari Ram Machiya is seen explaining how ‘Biran Mala’ is made.
ETV Bharat article dated 27, February 2023 titled ‘Congress Session in Raipur: The garland with which Sonia and Rahul were welcomed in Raipur, know its connection with the Baiga tribe!’ in Hindi is found carrying an image of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi being welcomed with the ‘Biran Mala’ made by Baiga tribe.
It takes three days to make this special ornament of the Baiga community. The yarn is made from 2 types of material – the trunk of the tree named ‘Khirsali’ and ‘Sutkahar’ grass. Itwari Ram Machiya, State President of Baiga Tribe also told ETV that a few days ago Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar Pandariya had come to the wedding of MLA Mamta Chandrakar’s daughter where they got to know about the Biran Mala and asked for it.”
Conclusion
It is found that the Chattisgarh CM did not welcome other leaders with a good chain but with a traditional garland ‘Biran Mala’ made of grass by the Baiga community.
