This post is shared with a claim stating, “What a fall !! Uddhav Thackeray is the other name of SHAMELESSNESS. Watch how congress workers of Wardha denied Uddhav even to make a speech at a rally. Why are these people fighting with Modi?” You can view a similar claim post here and here.

What’s the truth?

We began our study with the logo from the viral video “TV 9 News” in the upper corner. After conducting a basic Google reverse image search, we managed to find the longer version of the clip on the Zee 24 Taas YouTube channel. The 11:38-long video is titled “Wardha Uddhav Thackeray UNCUT | Watch full speech of Uddhav Thackeray in Wardhya Assembly.”

We can hear that Uddhav Thackeray approaches the podium at the opening of the video, following the mention of the Shiv Sena party’s name. He continues by saying that after he speaks for five minutes, Kale will take the mic. However, Amar Kale and the Congress leaders maintain that Uddhav should speak last and a little bit longer. However, Uddhav claims he would only speak for five minutes. In the meantime, a large number of people enter the platform and respectfully ask him to continue speaking by folding their hands.

We searched further with relevant keywords and found an article related to the incident dated April 22, 2024, from Loksatta.com.

According to the report, “Everyone was curious about when Uddhav Thackeray, who was the attraction of the meeting, would speak. When it was pointed out that it was time for them to leave too, Kale was instructed to wait. However, Kale heard the message asking him to stop and everything collapsed. There was confusion. Thackeray went to the mic and begged Kale to continue, while Kale was begging him to speak. Then everyone started requesting Thackeray to speak. But Thackeray was explaining that let Kale speak. In the end, Thackeray appealed publicly that he would speak for five minutes now but assured that Amar Kale would speak again when he was done. Then Uddhav Thackeray left after briefly finishing his speech.”

It is evident from all of this material that the Congressmen did not prevent Uddhav Thackeray from giving a speech in Wardha. Actually, they were attempting to get him to talk a little bit longer.

Conclusion:

We do find that the widely circulated rumor that Uddhav Thackeray’s speech at Wardha had been denied by Congress workers is misleading. They asked him to talk for at least an hour, and he told Kale to keep talking
