Actress Parineeti Chopra got engaged to AAP leader Raghav Chadha on 13, May 2023. Social media is flooded with images and videos from the event. Amid this, it is claimed that Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha studied together at the London School of Economics. The Times of India, NDTV and News 18 also reported the same. What is the truth?

The couple Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha shared their engagement pictures on their social media handles after which news channels reported the event along with the information that they both studied at the London School of Economics. All the news reports with such mentions are found published after the engagement. No news report mentioning that both studied at LSE is found prior to their engagement.

When searching with relevant keywords to know if Raghav Chadha studied at LSE, we found that he indeed studied at the London School of Economics. One of the blog posts dated 30, March 2015 on the LSE website was authored by Raghav Chadha.  The website mentions “After completing his schooling at Modern School Delhi, Raghav trained to be a chartered accountant and finally completed his studies at the London School of Economics”, about Raghav Chadha.

An article by The Quint dated 25, January 2023 is found mentioning about ‘Outstanding Achiever’ award in London that honoured Raghav Chadha. The article mentions “India UK Achievers Honours are being given on the occasion of India’s 75 years of independence to celebrate the educational and professional achievements of Indians who have studied in the United Kingdom.” And further mentioning that “Chadha studied at the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE).”

News 18 article reported about the ‘Outstanding Achievers’ award in the UK and mentioned that 75 achievers who bolster the India-UK diaspora living bridge were honoured to mark 75 years of India’s independence. Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha’s names are listed among the 75 achievers. The article reported, “Fifteen years ago, I was a student at Manchester Business School, an overweight, struggling student, with stars in her eyes of settling down in the UK, said Chopra, in her acceptance speech.”

The article also mentions “Chadha, who studied at the London School of Economics (LSE), spoke of his “unflinching spirit of serving India” as a national executive member of AAP in his speech.”

In addition to it, The University of Manchester website mentioned Parineeti Chopra’s name as one among the four University of Manchester alumni honoured for their achievements as Indian citizens who found success after their academic careers in the UK. This article is titled “Manchester alumni named among India’s top 75 young achievers”. It further mentions that she completed her BA in International Business, Finance & Economics in 2009.

Both Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha studied in the UK but they did not study together at the London School of Economics. Parineeti Chopra studied at Manchester Business School and Raghav Chadha studied at London School of Economics. It is to be noted that they both received the ‘Achievers’ award in the UK at the beginning of this year.

It is found that Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha did not study together at the London School of Economics as claimed by multiple media reports and social media users.
