To oppose the BJP and avert possible authoritarian rule following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut earlier emphasized the importance of unity between the MVA and Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) cadres.

Anil Deshmukh, a former home minister of Maharashtra and leader of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), announced on Wednesday that negotiations are in progress regarding seat sharing amongst the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance partners for the Lok Sabha election. The parties involved in the MVA are the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (Sharad Pawar).

Meanwhile, an India Today article claims that “Prakash Ambedkar demands MVA to vow against alliance with BJP in Maharashtra.” A similar claim was also made by the news outlet Aaj Tak who said, “There is a problem with the seats in MVA! Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi demands 17 seats.” The claim post can be viewed here.

What’s the truth?

We started our analysis with the relevant keyword search on Google like, ‘MVA seat issues 2024’, and ‘Prakash Ambedkar demands MVA.’ This led us to a tweet posted by the Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi.

According to the X post, they have clarified stating that, “VBA has made absolutely no demands to the MVA as yet. This news is completely false and we urge everyone to not believe in it and we hope that media houses refrain from publishing such fake news.”

Moreover, the post has also included a screenshot from Aaj Tak News and News 24 TV channel where they have drawn a red cross across it and labeled it as ‘Fake.’

This further clears the air that VBA has not made any such demands yet.

All this information confirms and clarifies that the viral claims are false and untrue.

To sum up, the viral claim stating that Prakash Ambedkar demands MVA to vow against alliance with BJP in Maharashtra is false.

Also, the statement that Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi demands 17 or 27 seats is bogus and VBA has refuted such rumors.
