Explanation

The Indian general elections of 2024 are slated to take place in seven parts between April 19, 2024, and June 1, 2024. On June 4, 2024, the results of the vote-counting process will be made public. The first four rounds of the Lok Sabha election are now complete. Both of the major parties are launching intense campaigns ahead of the election’s fifth phase.

In this instance, a collage image featuring Rahul Gandhi and a book about the Indian Constitution is making the rounds online. Rahul is seen holding a small red book in his hands in the lower part, while the upper half features the constitution book in a dark blue color.

This post is shared by the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma with the claim stating, “The original copy of the Constitution of India has a blue cover. The original Chinese constitution has a red cover. Does Rahul carry a Chinese Constitution? We will need to verify.” You can view similar claim posts here and here.

What’s the truth?

Using pertinent keywords such as “Red color Indian Constitution book” and “Color of Indian Constitution book,” we began our investigation.

Eventually, we found the Indian Constitution book on the Amazon website. Here the book was small and also in red color. While surfing through the page we found that the book was described as “The Constitution of India (Coat Pocket Edition) – 2023 Edition – EBC Flexibound.”

Then, after doing more research, we came across a piece in The Statesman that featured a picture of the identical red Indian Constitution pocketbook that our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, had given to the former President, Ram Nath Kovind.

According to the article, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Ram Nath Kovind, a day after the latter assumed the top Constitutional office.” Also, the article went on to add that, “The prime minister posted pictures of the meeting on his Twitter account, one of which showed him apparently presenting a copy of the Constitution to the president.”

This implies that PM Modi and other prominent figures have also used the same viral red Indian Constitution book.

Furthermore, the exact same picture of PM Modi giving our prior President the little red Indian Constitution book was also featured on the India Blooms website. You can view the image here.

We clearly notice the same little red Indian constitution book in the photograph above. This attests to the fact that the book pictured above is, as advertised on Amazon, the coat pocket edition of our Indian Constitution.

All the above information clarifies that the small red book in the hands of Rahul is a coat pocket edition of our Indian Constitution.

Conclusion:

We, therefore, conclude that the widely circulated rumor that Rahul is carrying a red Chinese Constitution book is misleading. The book that Rahul is holding is actually an Indian Constitution coat pocket edition.
