Now a 47-second video clip of Rahul Gandhi performing an aarti during Bharat Jodo Yatra is shared on social media by BJP and Hindutva supporters in the context that Rahul Gandhi paused while performing the aarti for the cameraman to capture him. What is the truth?

When watching the viral video closely it looked like Rahul Gandhi is following the people in front of him performing aarti. The viral video has the ANI logo in it and when searching for the original video, ANI’s tweet dated 8, January 2023 is found with a 3.56 minutes video mentioning that Rahul Gandhi performs aarti at Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra, Haryana. This extended version of the viral video clarifies that Rahul Gandhi is following those in front of him.

When checking the full-length video published by the Indian National Congress Youtube channel on 8, January, it can be seen at 19.33 minutes that he was informed to come forward to perform aarti, and at 20.59 minutes he is seen repeating what the people in front of him in a uniform are doing and he paused for every three times whenever they paused.

The same can be seen at 5.50 minutes of the YouTube video published by ‘The Tribune’ on 9, January 2023 with the title ‘Rahul Gandhi performs aarti at Brahma Sarovar in Haryana’s Kurukshetra’.

There were several similar instances where a clipped video of Rahul Gandhi is shared with missing context and the fact-checked articles from Youturn can be seen below.

It is found that the clipped video shared in the context that Rahul Gandhi paused performing the aarti for the cameraman to capture him is false. The extended version of the video shows him pausing the aarti every third time as he follows the people in front of him performing the aarti.
