Himanta Biswa, Chief Minister of Assam recently claimed that Rahul Gandhi might have used his body double during ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ between January 18 and January 25 and that he will expose Rahul Gandhi soon.
What’s the truth?
During our analysis, we initially conducted a comparison between the bus image depicted in the viral post and the actual bus utilized by Rahul Gandhi during the yatra. We have verified that the bus showcased in the viral image is distinct from the one used by Rahul Gandhi.
Upon reviewing the visuals of the Yatra on the official YouTube channel of the Indian National Congress, we observed a discrepancy in the appearance of the vehicle. In contrast to the photos circulated by social media users depicting a yellow-colored bus, the bus that was featured in the Yatra had an orange color on top and a sea blue color at the bottom.
The videos of the Yatra were also shared by Rahul Gandhi on his official X account. You can view them here and here. The videos feature the same orange and blue bus as seen in the YouTube video.
For the reader’s convenience, we have included a comparative image showcasing both the viral bus and the original bus used during the Yatra. This image serves as a reference point for better understanding.
After conducting further investigation, we discovered that the individual depicted in the viral image has been identified as Rakesh Kushwaha, a Congress worker from Madhya Pradesh. Numerous reports have surfaced showing Kushwaha resembling Gandhi. Additionally, various media outlets such as Live Hindustan, ABP News, IBC 24, and NMF News have shared video reports featuring Kushwaha.
We have attached a comparison between the viral and the YouTube video which shows that the person seen is Rakesh Kushwaha.
Rakesh Kushwaha’s resemblance to Rahul Gandhi during the Jodo Yatra 2022 is undeniable; however, his current appearance does not resemble him. For the reader’s understanding, we have also included a side-by-side comparison of recent images.
All this clarifies that the viral image doesn’t show any ‘body-double’ of Rahul Gandhi as suggested.
Consequently, it can be inferred that the viral picture depicts Rakesh Kushwaha, a Congress member hailing from Madhya Pradesh, rather than Rahul Gandhi’s look-alike.
