What is the truth?
The viral posts claim that Ricky Ponting mentioned India and BCCI as cricket mafia to Fox Cricket. When searching with relevant keywords we found that he did not utter anything as claimed. An article titled “Ricky Ponting, Michael Vaughan and Nasser Hussain call out India for tactical pitch ‘backfire’”, published on Fox Cricket website reported that he said, “It was very, very sub-continental conditions today. A wicket preparation that has probably ended up backfiring on India to be totally fair”, in his commentary.
We did not find anywhere in the Fox Cricket article that Ponting said that Australia’s victory against India was a win of justice against the cricket mafia. There are no credible news reports that say Ricky Ponting making the alleged statement. We also did not find any such posts when skimming through the Instagram profile of Ricky Ponting as well.
