The two-and-twenty-second video shows numerous young men beating those people unarmed around them whilst running with sticks. This viral video is shared with a claim stating, “ In Alwar, the Muslims are entering the Hindu’s houses and beating them with sticks.” You can view related posts with similar claims here, here, and here.

What’s the truth?

We conducted a Hindi keyword search using terms associated with the viral claim and found multiple news reports in Hindi carrying the same viral videos about the incident that occurred more than a week ago.

According to the article from Dainik Bhaskar, “In Alwar, a 70-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were attacked with sticks by family members over their old house. The old man kept pleading with folded hands but the four youths who were beating him with sticks had no mercy at all. The incident took place at Cheema Ki Dhani in Duhar Chaugan on Biharisar Road in Thanagaji police station area on Thursday evening. The video of the fight has surfaced. A total of 8 people of the same family were injured in the fight. Five seriously injured people were referred to Jaipur.”

When we advanced our search we got another article from Rajasthan Patrika, which briefs the incident as a fight between two sides of the same family over ancestral land, house, and enmity that turned into a bloody conflict in Khakasya Ki Dhani near Thanagaji town. This led to more than a dozen men, women, and children being injured from both sides, in Alwar.

Moreover, when we intensified the search, we came across an X post by the Alwar Police dismissing the false communal twist to the incident. According to the X post, “This video is old and both the parties belong to the same family (Hindu side). 7 persons from both sides were arrested under section 151 CRPC. Cases have been registered by both parties in this regard and 3 persons have been arrested in the case. Who is under judicial custody? Do not spread this message otherwise legal action will be taken as per law.”

Everything that has been said so far makes it very evident that there was a dispute between members of the same family who shared the same religion regarding ancestral land. This further confirms that the social media users circulating the viral video with a communal spin is false and misleading.

Thus, we conclude that the viral video claiming that Muslims entered the Hindu house in Alwar and beat them with sticks is completely false. In reality, the incident happened in the same family all belonging to a Hindu background, and has nothing to do with Muslims.
