Some of the other social media users too shared the same video in the context that it was captured during the finals. One of the tweets is captioned “CSK won only after eating Gujarati food Fafda-Jalebi & last balls six-four by a Gujarati- Jadeja”. Some of the posts with such a claim can be seen here and here.
What is the truth?
When searching with relevant keywords we found a Facebook post by ‘MS Dhoni 7781’ dated 30 March 2023 with matching visuals from the viral video. The images are captioned “MS Dhoni and CSK had a taste of Jalebi Fafda after today’s practice session.”
The same visuals are also found tweeted by Mufaddal Vohra on the same date with the same caption that the players had tasted Jalebi Fafda after a practice session on 30, March 2023.
When searching for the posts on the social media handles of Chennai Super Kings on 30, March 2023, we found the extended version of the viral video posted on its Instagram and Twitter pages with the caption “Choosing the right rain snack”. Hashtag ‘when in Gujarat’ is seen in the tweet letting us know that it was captured in Gujarat.

It is found that the viral video of CSK players including Dhoni tasting Gujarati food amid rain is not captured during the IPL finals this year but was captured in March during a practice session in Gujarat.
