This clip is viral with the claim that “this is the peak digital India moment” by multiple users which can be viewed here, here and here. Come, let’s check the veracity of this claim.

What’s the truth?

When we started our research by examining the keyframes of the viral video through a Google reverse image search, we found the Instagram page of the person who recorded the video.

A perusal of the Instagram page confirmed that the video was uploaded on August 27 by a woman namely, yash_mehndi from Delhi. The artist’s bio tells that she is a bridal mehndi artist.

The viral video is captioned, “I have incorporated the money transaction scenes in this video into my mehndi video by screen recording. This mehndi QR code cannot be used for payment. It was recorded just for fun.” It was clearly mentioned that mehndi QR code cannot be used for payment in reality.
