When we searched for Rahul Gandhi’s arrest for drunk and drive, August 24th dated India today article reported, “The man named Rahul Gandhi, a resident of Panas Gam, was held after he created a disturbance on the road in Surat’s Khatodara area, police said. He was later released on bail”.
Kathir News is being run by a BJP member. Opindia website too has published this news with a similar title. This website is known to publish right-wing supporting articles.
The news was published with such a title deliberately to gain readers and for political gain. The title said ‘Rahul Gandhi was arrested’ instead of mentioning it as ‘a person named Rahul Gandhi was arrested’ so that people might think it as Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Few of the social media users also have thought so and have shared the news card.
