The 29-second cell phone network tower burning video about burning of Reliance  JIO Tower in the ongoing farmers’ struggle against the new agricultural laws has gone viral on social media.

We decided to explore the authenticity of the video recorded by Tiktok with the text written in Hindi about JIO Tower which is going viral on social media all over India.

Fact Check:

Searching for keywords related to the cell phone tower fire in India, we came across a news item on amarujala on June 28, 2017 with photos published on the website amarujala that a cell phone tower on the roof of a house in Dehradun, Uttarakhand had caught fire .

Upon further searching, the news was released on June 28, 2017 in News18 Hindi with a video. The telephone tower on the house burned down due to a short circuit. The tower area featured in the viral video and the tower area featured in the photo released in the news are one and the same.

In the fight against the new agricultural laws, farmers raised the slogan that they should boycott the use of the JIO network. The protesters then settled on the JIO Towers in an attempt to destroy the connection. India Today reports that 1500 telecom towers in Punjab have been cut off and damaged so far.
