A video of a brawl between two ladies is widely circulated on Twitter with the claim that it is the first time in India that a lady judge and a lady advocate are having a fistfight in a court in Maharashtra and are separated by a lady police officer. The reason for the clash is mentioned in the post as the denial of bail to the advocate’s fiance by the judge. Some of the posts with such a claim can be seen here and here. What is the truth?

When searching with relevant keywords, a Times of India article dated 29, October 2022 is found carrying matching visuals from the viral video. The article is titled ‘Women lawyers slap each other, pull hair during brawl inside a court in Uttar Pradesh’ and mentions that two female lawyers fight with each other in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj.

The incident is also found reported by the ‘Capital TV Uttar Pradesh’ YouTube channel on 29, October 2022 with the title ‘Fight Of Women Lawyers Who Came For Lobbying | Capital TV Uttar Pradesh’. The description part reads “According to the police, one lawyer is a resident of Kasganj, while the other lawyer had come from Aligarh. These two lawyers are advocating in the court against each other in a mutual dispute of a couple.”

An article by Dainik Bhaskar mentions one of the advocates fighting with each other as a woman Kavita Saxena of Kasganj and the other advocate Sunita Kaushik of Aligarh.

Conclusion

It is found that a brawl between two female advocates inside a court in Uttar Pradesh is falsely shared as a fight between a female judge and a female advocate in a court in Maharashtra.
