Explanation

The G20 summit took place on November 15 and 16, 2022. The world leaders met for this two-day summit hosted on the Indonesian island of Bali under the theme ‘Recover Together, Recover Stronger’.

An image of a woman holding a placard quoted as ‘Go back Modi’ is viral on social media mentioning ‘Bali, Indonesia Nov 2022’. It is claimed that Modi is fired wherever he goes. Such posts can be seen here, here, here, and here.

What is the Truth?

When the image is reverse searched, it is found that it was not related to the G20 summit or Modi’s visit to Bali. The search yielded three related results and two out of them ended either on a tweet with no image or just the Twitter profile.

A tweet by Rep. Val Demings has the image and the placard in it says “Democrats and Independents must unite to vote out Republicans. vote Blue this November. Paid for by concerned citizen”. But when the image is clicked, it landed on a tweet with no image in it.

Another tweet by Wajahat Ali dated 1, July 2022 has the same original image and the tweet was captioned as ‘This lady has been holding this sign at the middle of the intersection, stone cold, not a word uttered. I still think the country is underestimating the anger of women and Gen Z. They won’t take this sitting down. They won’t go back’. But the caption did not provide details on which place it is.

Conclusion

The placard content in the old image is photoshopped and is shared claiming that ‘Go back Modi’ placards were used in Bali during Modi’s recent visit to the G20 summit.
