Curfew was imposed across the country as the coronavirus outbreak was a major threat in India. In that time a photo has been circulating on social media, claiming that the police woman was dismissed for shooting three men’s private parts who abducted and sexually assaulted a 19-year-old girl in Gujarat during the curfew. This forward information, which started circulating last April, is now being shared again.
Fact Check
It is noteworthy that the photo of the woman in the police uniform in this post was spread as “the female officer who is currently under investigation by the Human Rights Commission after shooting the private parts of 3 men who raped an 8-year-old schoolgirl in Bihar in 2019”. No such incident has taken place, and we have published the article stating that there is no definite information whether the person in the photo is a real police officer.
This is not the first time news has spread that a female police officer shot a rapist in the private parts. Same story was spread with photos of film actresses.
On May 19, the Indian Express reported that a complaint had been lodged on behalf of the victim’s father about the sexual abuse of a young girl from an oppressed community while investigating whether there was any incident of sexual violence in Gujarat during the curfew. However, this news has nothing to do with the forward information, it is to be noted that the forward information was released in April.
We could not come to a conclusion whether the woman in the police uniform was a real cop or an actress. However, it is clear that they are making small changes in the same story and spreading fake news with different photos.
