In recent times a video with the caption “Watch Himalaya owner says, Don’t Buy Any Product Made By Hindu Run Companies. It would be good if the Hindus understood this.” has been spread virally on social media. Also, in the viral video, the man is also seen calling for a boycott of Jio phones and petrol pumps owned by Reliance. This same post was shared by many users with similar claims can be seen here, here, and here. Come, let’s check the authenticity of this claim.

What’s the truth?

A Google reverse image search of the keyframes of the viral video revealed that the person in the video is not the founder of Himalaya. On investigation, it was confirmed that the person in the video is Bhanu Pratap Singh, a Supreme Court lawyer from Delhi, and that Himalaya founder Mohammed Manal had died in 1986.

And since the viral video mentioned ‘Times Express’, we searched for it on their YouTube page. This video was taken on January 25, 2020 during the protest against CAA. Its title mentions ‘Bhanu Pratap Singh’. People standing on the platform and surrounding the speaker are also seen carrying placards with the slogans ‘Reject CAA, NPR, NRC’.

The video which is going viral on social media comes at the 4 minute 36 second mark in the full video.

Through this, it can be found at the end of the investigation that the person in this video is not Mohammed Sandal, the founder of Himalaya Company.

Conclusion:

In our research, we found the reports claiming that the founder of Himalaya saying not buy any product made by Hindus are false and that the person in the video is Banu Pratap Singh, a Supreme Court lawyer from Delhi.
