On January 22, Ayodhya will host the grand opening of the recently constructed Ram temple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many others will attend as special guests. In this case, a 9-second video is going viral on social media saying, ‘Look at the Jatayu birds, which are said to be extinct, are invading Ayodhya.’ The user continued to add that, Jatayu birds have an important mention in Ramayana which started coming to Ayodhya to witness the inauguration of the Ram temple. One similar claim can be seen here.


What’s the truth?

After analyzing the keyframes of the viral video through a Google reverse image search, it was found that these are vultures belonging to the Accipitridae family.

When we searched for this viral video, we discovered that it was uploaded on a Facebook page in October 2021, with the caption translated as, “Do you know the name of the bird?”

Though we could not ascertain the whereabouts of this video we found that this video is not recent or related to Ayodhya Ram temple as this video has been making the rounds on social media at least since 2021.

Conclusion:

According to our search, the video purporting to show that the critically endangered Jatayu birds are traveling to Ayodhya to see the opening of the Ram temple is untrue.

Furthermore, it’s known that this video has been making the rounds on social media since 2021.
