According to a post that has been making the rounds on social media, the USA has opened the largest library in the world in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The post includes a few images of a large white building with horizontal bookshelves filled with many books. You can view one such claim here.

What’s the truth?

After conducting a reverse image search on the widely circulated photos, we found a Hindustan Times article claiming that the images belong to the Binhai Library in Tianjin, China. The article is titled “This six-storied futuristic library in China has shelves stacked with book replicas.” The identical viral photos were included in this article as well.

We discovered the MVRDV reports after expanding our search. According to the website, “Tianjin Binhai Library is MVRDV’s fastest realized project to date, taking just three years from the first sketch to the opening.” This massive library is located in the China Mainland.

Lastly, we found the Business Insider video on the YouTube channel captioned “You Can Climb A ‘Book Mountain’ In This Gigantic Library In China” dated back to 10, March 2018. According to the description box, “The Tianjin Binhai Library, Tianjin, China. 33,700 square meters. Five levels. Enough shelf space for 1.2 million books. It was completed by Dutch architecture firm MVRDV and local architects from the Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute. It’s nicknamed “The Eye.”
There’s a giant globe in the center of the library. It has an auditorium hidden inside. The library has become a tourist hot spot since opening in 2017.”

All the above information confirms that there is no association whatsoever between this library and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. We also looked into the possibility of having a library in the United States named for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. There are no records of any library named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the United States.

Therefore, we deduce that the widely circulated picture asserting that America has established the largest library in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is wholly untrue. In actuality, the pictures are from China’s Tianjin Binhai Library.
