This post received a whooping amount of 10.8M views, 63.9k likes and more than 8000 reposts. This same message was earlier shared in 2016 by a user on Facebook can be seen here and now in 2023 as well which can be viewed here and here. Come let’s check how much truth this claim holds.

What’s the truth?
On November 26, 2016, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement on the death of revolutionary Fidel Castro, who fought for the liberation of Cuba, “It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of the death of Cuba’s longest serving President.”
“Fidel Castro was a larger-than-life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.”
“While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for “el Comandante”.
“I know my father was very proud to call him a friend and I had the opportunity to meet Fidel when my father passed away. It was also a real honour to meet his three sons and his brother President Raúl Castro during my recent visit to Cuba.”
Subsequently, on November 27, 2016, on the website Reddit, a message was published that Justin Trudeau was the son born of the love between Fidel Castro and Margaret Trudeau, the wife of the former Prime Minister of Canada.
In this, three unrelated messages are mentioned. 1. Fidel Castro and Margaret Trudeau met in 1971, 2. The romance between the two 3. Justin’s beard looks like Castro’s.

The first meeting between Castro and Justin’s mother, Margaret Trudeau, took place in 1976 during the Canadian Prime Minister’s visit to Cuba. This is proved from a CTV News video titled “W5 Archive: The Trudeau family visits Cuba in 1976”. But Justin Trudeau was born before that.
However, there is a piece of incongruous news that Margaret Trudeau met Castro on April 22 after her honeymoon. Because Margaret was not included in the Canadian Prime Minister’s trip to Niagara Region in April. It is noteworthy that Margaret Trudeau gave birth to Justin on Christmas Day, exactly 10 months after her wedding, when she visited the Prime Minister’s official residence in Ottawa after her honeymoon on March 8, 1971.

Another photo of Fidel Castro holding a kid is found on Alamy website mentionng that it was captured on 26, January 1976 when Margaret Trudeau smiles as Cuban President Fidel Castro holds her youngest son Michel after the Trudeaus arrived in Havana, Cuba.
Vancouver Sun, in one of its articles published in 2017 featured a photo of Pierre Trudeau and Margaret Sinclair mentioning that they both got married in 1971.
The website of Prime Minister of Canada mentions that Justin Trudeau was born December 25, 1971. His father is named as Pierre Elliott Trudeau and his mother as Margaret Trudeau on this page.
Therefore, there is no reason and no proper evidence to accept the claim that Fidel Castro and Margaret Trudeau met before 1971. All the people might know that the meeting was in the public affairs of the two. The rumour mill started with a post on the US Reddit website that wrongly linked a revolutionary of one nation with the wife of another nation’s prime minister.
Fidel Castro and Justin’s mother Margaret Trudeau first met in 1976. But Justin Trudeau was born in 1971.
What is the motive behind desecrating the life of a country’s current prime minister and a world-renowned fighter?
