What a good thinking about SC ST OBC. Jai Ho Jai Ho Jai Ho Honorable Prime Minister Modi Ji “I am against any kind of reservation, especially not in job.” What did Modiji say
A 55-second viral video was purportedly on X (formerly Twitter), and in this video, we can see Prime Minister Narendra Modi talking about reservations. In parliament, PM Modi is heard saying “I don’t like any kind of reservation, and especially reservation in job sectors, which I can’t accept. I am totally against any kind of step that promotes inefficiency and takes us toward mediocrity.”
PM Modi further added that it has always been against reservations, and if SC/ST/OBC got quotas in jobs, then the standard of government work would fall.
What is the Truth?
We ran a reverse search using the keyframes of the viral video, and we found the full original video posted on Sansad TV on February 7, 2024. In this video, we can see on the timestamp 30:48 PM Modi speaking to Rajya Sabha, saying that once Nehru ji wrote a letter. This letter was written by the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to all the Chief Ministers of the Indian Union at that time. PM Modi also claimed that Nehru said, “I don’t like any kind of reservation, especially reservation in job sectors, which I can’t accept. I am totally against any kind of step that promotes inefficiency and takes us toward mediocrity.”
According to this, we only find out that he quoted Nehru’s letter to all chief ministers against the reservation, and nowhere in his full speech did Modi say he himself was against the reservation.
Similar news was reported by many media outlets such as The Indian Express, The Economic Times, India Today. Hindustan Times, and Mint. And what PM Modi claimed about Nehru is also misleading. YouTurn covered it in an article which can be read from the link below.
A clipped video of PM Modi is shared to falsely claim that he is against reservations.
