In a recently concluded cricket match between India and Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup competition on August 28, 2022, BCCI Secretary and Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah, who is also the son of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, refused to hold the Indian Flag when it was offered to him. This act of Jay Shah was criticised heavily on social media.
In the aftermath of this incident, a photo is shared virally on social media with a claim that Home Minister of India’s son Jay Shah is posing with Pakistan Army General’s son Saad Bajwa; to insinuate that Jay Shah’s close contact with Pakistan’s power centre is the reason he refused to hold the National Flag.
What’s the truth ?
We reverse image searched the photo of Jay Shah with a woman and a man. We found that the woman in the photo is Actress Urvashi Rautela along with her brother Yashraj Rautela.
This can be confirmed on Urvashi’s Instagram page where some pictures with her brother are posted. Moreover, we are able to find in Yashraj Rautela’s Instagram that he was indeed in Dubai to see the India-Pakistan clash in Asia Cup.
In further probe, we found a website “retropoplifestyle” which mentions that Actress Urvashi Rautela and her brother attended the India-Pakistan cricket match in the VVIP stand and they got a chance to meet Home Minister of India Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah. The article on that site also has another photo of the three of them talking.
In dikhawa.pk website, we were able to find the wedding pictures of Pakistan Army General Qamar Bajwa’s son Saad Bajwa which happened in 2018. The photo is added below. Hence the viral photo claiming that Amit Shah is posing with Pakistan Army General’s son is fake.
However, Jay Shah was indeed in close proximity to Pakistan Army General’s son Saad Bajwa at the said event. While sitting at the VVIP gallery to watch the match, Jay Shah can be seen sitting along with Saad Bajwa and a Sheik whose identity could not be verified at this point. The person in this particular image is indeed Pakistan Army General Qamar Bajwa’s son but this particular image did not receive the same notoriety as the one above.
Conclusion
The viral photo claiming that Home Minister of India Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah posing with Pakistan Army General’s son Saad Bajwa is fake. The people in the photo are Jay Shah, Indian Actress Urvashi Rautela and her brother Yashraj Rautela.
