What is the truth?
When searching with relevant keywords, we found a news article on The Dig – Howard University’s News & Stories Hub where the rally was organized. The article titled “Vice President Kamala Harris ‘86 Provides Remarks at Reproductive Rights Event at Howard University” is found reporting the speech of Kamala Harris. But no mention of the “Today Yesterday Tomorrow…” speech is found in this article.
We also found the speech remarks of Kamala Harris on The White House website. But nowhere it is mentioned the ‘today is today…’ speech as claimed by social media users.
With further search, a Facebook post of NARAL Pro-Choice America is found carrying a live video with the title “Vice President Kamala Harris joins rally for Reproductive Freedom”. It is mentioned that the rally comes after the Supreme Court on Friday granted a stay in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA, blocking the lower courts’ dangerous rulings that would have severely restricted access to medication abortion.
When listening to Kamala Harris’s speech we found that no sentence as heard in the viral video is said in the original video. In addition to it, we also noticed the words ‘Ramble Rants’ in the viral video in place of ‘Fighting For’ seen in the original video. When searching for the edited words we found a Twitter account with the same name that has posted the viral video with the altered audio clip.
Conclusion
It is found that a video clip of Kamala Harris’s speech at the Fight for Reproductive Rights rally at Howard University has been digitally altered to ridicule her.
