What is the truth?
When searching with relevant keywords we found that the video was taken before Siddaramaiah became the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
IBTimes article dated 18, March 2023 is found reporting that Basavaraj Bommai kept Santosh trophy winners waiting and then felicitates football champs on the footpath. It is also mentioned, “This is not the first time that Basavaraj Bommai has come in for sharp criticism for his lack of punctuality and indifferent attitude in general.”
Karnataka footballers, the Santosh Trophy winners were given a time slot of 15 minutes to meet him. The team brought the trophy after beating Meghalaya in the final match at King Fahd International Stadium in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh after 54 years. They were made to wait for 1.5 hours and later the then CM, Basavaraj Bommai met them not inside his official residence but on the footpath outside his house, reported IBTimes. The image of the players with Bommai is found featured in the article, but the viral video was not featured.
When checking for the residence of Basavaraj Bommai, we found images of the same on the socialnews website. When comparing the image with the viral video visuals, we found that the players were waiting outside the residence of Basavaraj Bommai.
Moreover, the final match for the Santosh Trophy was held in Saudi Arabia on 4, March 2023. And Siddaramaiah took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on 20, May 2023.
Conclusion
It is found that the viral video shows Karnataka footballers and Santosh Trophy winners waiting to meet the then CM Basavaraj Bommai in March 2023. It is to be noted that Siddaramaiah took oath as CM of Karnataka in May 2023.
