Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS), formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), chief K.Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha is alleged to be involved in a liquor policy scam of Delhi. The liquor policy was implemented in November 2021 which paved way for the Delhi Government to exit the liquor trade completely and the policy enabled private players to have complete control of selling liquor.
However, this move resulted in a controversy that rocked the Delhi government, and the Enforcement Directorate raided the houses various businessmen & Aam Aadmi Party men including the house of Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. In the alleged scam, it has also been alleged that Telangana MLC member K Kavitha who is also the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister is involved in the scam, as she was contacted 10 times by Amit Arora, a Gurugram businessman arrested in connection with the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy Scam.
Following this, a video of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) is being spread in social media, spearheaded by BJP’s Priti Gandhi, which shows KCR saying that Modi is his best friend. This video is used to claim that KCR has softened his attack on BJP following his daughter is named in the Delhi Liquor Excise Scam.
What’s the truth?
With a keyword search, we were able to determine that the video spread by BJP’s Priti Gandhi is more than 4 years old. In our search, we were able to find that the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had conducted a press meet on 4th March 2018 in which he said that he is the best friend of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The full press meet can be seen in this video uploaded to YouTube by a channel named “Around Telugu”. In the 32nd minute of the interview, KCR responds to a question that he has nothing against PM Modi and in fact not many people know he is the best friend of Modi.
From this 58-minute-long press meet, 30 seconds of it is clipped and shared in social media by several BJP supporters that KCR had softened his stance on Modi ever since his daughter has been involved in the enquiry of the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy/Excise Scam.
It was even reported at that time in several news outlets.
Though KCR had called PM Modi his friend few months ago too, this video shared by BJP members now is from 2018.
Conclusion
A video which is more than 4 years old is shared by Priti Gandhi and several other BJP supporters that the Telangana Chief Minister is calling PM Modi his best friend because his daughter is being investigated by the ED in an alleged scam.
