The accused is identified as Pravesh Shukla and the victim is a mentally ill tribal man from Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi. It is said that Pravesh Shukla is the former representative of Sidhi BJP MLA Kedarnath Shukla. His inhumane act was condemned by many including the opposition party members on social media.

Multiple comments from social media users say that the accused Pravesh Shukla is a BJP member. Madhya Pradesh Congress also informed the same. But it is being denied by Madhya Pradesh BJP.
Kedar Nath Shukla, BJP MLA of Sidhi constituency tweeted “A video is going viral on social media in which a person is being told as my representative, that person is neither an office bearer of BJP nor my MLA representative and BJP is against the accused and registered the case under ST / SC Act.”

Khushbu took to Twitter to condemn the shocking incident with the caption “In a very disturbing and appalling incident, a man is seen urinating on a mentally unstable man from a tribe in MP. These are the heights of arrogance, insensitivity & an act of absolute heinous crime. He is arrested, but that will not suffice. He needs to be taught a lesson for life. He is not a BJP member as opposition claims. Also, such crimes should be beyond political differences & we must stand together to make sure the culprit is punished and not set free under any circumstances. I, as a person who believes in equality & humanity, hang my head in shame & apologize to the man & the community insulted with folded hands. Nobody should ever go through this.”

However, when searching Pravesh Shukla’s social media accounts including Twitter and Facebook, we found a post carrying his BJP membership card confirming that he is a BJP member. In addition to it, multiple photos of him taking part in the State Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Narottam Mishra’s rally, other BJP rallies and one with BJP MLA Kedar Nath Shukla are also found.

Moreover, we found tweets carrying videos and news reports including India Today mentioning that Pravesh Shukla’s father Ramkhant Shukla said that his son is a representative of BJP MLA Kedar Nath Shukla.
