Communal clashes occurred in multiple parts of Maharashtra including Mira Road amidst Ram temple inauguration in Ayodhya. A Hindu rally entered a Muslim locality on January 21 in Mira Road, Mumbai which led to clashes between both sides. 13 people have been arrested so far in this incident. Multiple videos are circulated in the name of Mira Road riots.
One such video showing a fire in a building near railway tracks is being circulated to claim that it is the current situation at Mira Riad railway station.
What is the Truth?
When watching the viral video we found that the same video went viral earlier with a different claim stating that it happened in Uttar Pradesh railway station. YouTurn published an article in Tamil on 2, January 2024.
An article on News Drum dated 7, April 2023 is found carrying matching visuals from the viral video. This article reports about fire at Santoshpur railway station in West Bengal. However the image caption denotes it as ‘representation image’.
The Times of India featured a video clip that matches the viral video while reporting about the massive fire that broke out in West Bengal’s Santoshpur railway station. This article is dated 6, April 2023.

We also found an X post by the journalist Piyali Mitra. The viral video is found shared in the post with the caption “Massive fire breaks out near Santoshpur Railway Station. Several fire tenders working to douse the fire. Train service on Balligunge and Budge-Budge line disrupt”, clarifying that the video is unrelated to Mira Road riots.
The video shows a massive fire near Santhospur railway station in West Bengal. This incident is from April 2023 and is not related to the recent Mira road riots as claimed.
