Atiq Ahmed, a gangster turned politician and his brother Ashraf were murdered in front of the police and media on 15, April 2023 in Uttar Pradesh. The incident was captured live on camera and the video created shocking waves across the country. Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad Ahmed and his aide Ghulam were killed in an encounter in the Umesh Pal murder case on 13, April 2023.

What is the truth?
When reverse-searching the screengrabs of the viral video we found a Youtube video uploaded on 14, April 2023. The viral video starts at the 2:20-minute timestamp of this video. The video is titled in Urdu and is roughly translated as “The scene of carrying the funeral of Hazrat Maulana Syed Muhammad Rabi Hosni Nadvi, may Allah have mercy on him nadwa”. Another video dated 13, April 2023 is also found on a YouTube channel mentioning it as Maulana’s funeral procession.
With further search, we found that it is the funeral procession of Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi in Lucknow. The ETV Bharat dated 14, April 2023 reported the incident with multiple visuals from the procession. Another article dated 13, April 2023 reported “Maulana Rabe Hasni Nadvi’s Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Darul Uloom Nadwa in Daliganj at around 10 pm, sources said. His mortal remains will be taken to his ancestral residence in Rae Bareli, where he will be cremated on Friday morning.”
When searching for the last rites of Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad Ahmed, we found ‘The Indian Express’ news video dated 15, April 2023 showing the visuals from Asad Ahmed’s funeral.
Conclusion
It is found that the video clip shared with the claim that it is the crowd gathered at the funeral of Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad Ahmed is false. The video is from the funeral procession of Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi in Lucknow.
