An image purportedly showing Maxwell touching Sachin Tendulkar’s feet is shared to claim that Maxwell bowed down to touch Sachin’s feet seeking his blessings when he came to the ground to congratulate Maxwell.
The post further mentions that it is one of the greatest moments in the history of cricket. Some of the posts claiming that Maxwell touched Sachin’s feet can be seen here, here and here. Some of the YouTube videos also claim that Maxwell bowed down to touch Sachin’s feet in front of Afghan players.
What is the truth?
When searching with relevant keywords we found Sachin Tendulkar wearing the same attire during his interaction with Afghanistan team. A couple of videos uploaded on the Facebook page of ICC – International Cricket Council and the YouTube channel of Afghanistan Cricket Board show Sachin Tendulkar wearing the same attire as seen in the viral image while interacting with Afghanistan team. However, the videos do not show Maxwell touching Sachin’s feet.
We found an image of Sachin on the Getty Images website with the title “Australia & Afghanistan Net Sessions – ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup India 2023”. Sachin’s posture in this photo looked similar to that of the viral image. When comparing both the image we found that it is edited to falsely share that Maxwell touched Sachin’s feet.
Earlier, it was claimed that Dhoni touched Sachin Tendulkar’s feet. But this image was found edited. Youturn published an article on the same.
