Explanation

The Congress shared a 19-second viral video showing the BJP Minister Nitin Gadkari speaking in an interview. We can hear him saying “Today the villages, poor laborers, and farmers are unhappy. There are no good roads, no pure water to drink, no good hospitals, no good schools in the villages. Farmer’s crop does not get a good price.” You can see so many related posts with similar claims here, here, here, and here.

What’s the truth?

An internet search for the 19-second video of Nitin Gadkari posted by the Congress turned up his full interview on the YouTube page ‘TheLallantop’.

In the whole video, the viral portion starts from the 17th minute. In which he said, “The share of agriculture in our country’s GDP is just 12%, the share of manufacturing sector is 22 – 24%, and the share of service sector is 52 – 54%. However, 65 percent of the total population depends on agriculture. During Gandhi’s time, 90 percent of the population lived in villages. More than 30 percent of them have now gradually migrated to the city.

Because the villages, the poor, the workers, and the farmers are unhappy. There are no good roads in the villages, no clean drinking water, no good hospitals, no good schools, and no fair price for the produce. There is no steady growth. I am not saying that there is no development. I say not enough growth. After our government came, we have also done many development projects.

That means development projects have taken place in the past. But, they are not enough.” He further adds, “only after our arrival, we have done a lot of development projects. We have identified 120 aspiring districts and over 550 aspiring blocks where changes are occurring.” Only a small portion of it has been posted by the Congress party on their X page in a misleading manner.

Nitin Gadkari has sent a legal notice to Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge and party general secretary Jairam Ramesh for misrepresenting what he said.

Conclusion:

The information posted by the Congress Party that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that there is no development in the villages is incorrect. They have posted only a small part of what he said in the wrong way.
